What matters is what you think, what you envision, what you believe.

No one else is traveling your journey but you.

When you are over-concerned for the approval of others in fulfilling your life purpose, you will be undoing yourself.

Self approval should be desired. Waiting on people to approve your action will paralyze you from taking effective action.

No good thing wants it to be achieved. A knockdown is not a knock out! Determination wins!

Continue to continue if you’re on a just course. Press on, dont be discouraged.

Good Evening Ladies And Gentlemen…

How Has Your Day Been???

Great I Guess???

If So! Glory Be To God Almighty…

Let’s Set The Ball Rolling For Tonight Seminar

In the ever busy and crowded streets, roads and markets of Nigeria as a whole especially the major cities say Lagos, Porthharcourt, Enugu, Kano, Abuja, to mentioned but few, millions of people go about their daily business – business people, traders, office workers and school children.
In the midst of all the hustle and bustle, we often dehydrate under the hot weather and will need a glass of something chilled to refresh ourselves (usually water, juices or soft drinks).
At home, the electricity supply problem is forcing households to use ice blocks to preserve their food and drinks. The strong demand for ice blocks for cooling has created a booming business opportunity in cities, towns and villages across the country as a whole.
*Why do we have such a huge demand for ice block in Nigeria especially in the Cities?*
By understanding the factors responsible for the demand behind every business, entrepreneurs can become more creative with their products and adapt in time to changes in the market.
Like every other idea we’ve shared on this platform,;
*Consumer demand is the basic reason for the booming ice block business.*
Let’s now take a look at other reasons for the huge demand for ice block in some of Nigerian cities, towns and villages…

» *Geography &Weather*
A large portion of Africa sits on the earth’s equator and lies within the tropical climate region which Nigeria happens to be one of… This means that our continent enjoys more direct sunlight and heat compared to the temperate parts of the world (such as Europe and North America).
It is estimated that many parts of Africa where Nigeria belong enjoy (or suffer) an average of 300 days of bright sunlight every year. This means that for most days of the year, the weather is hot and humid as the sun shines ever so brightly for up to five hours on most days.
In fact, temperatures during the day can rise up to 40°C especially in the northernmost parts of the country which have a savanna or desert climate.
The hot and humid weather conditions in many parts of Africa/Nigeria leads many people to drink more water to refresh and rehydrate their bodies.
In these modern times, most people prefer to drink chilled/cold liquids when they can afford it. In fact, we tend to feel more refreshed by drinking chilled water (or soft drinks) compared to ordinary ‘unchilled’ liquids.
Add to this the growing effects of climate change and global warming and you can guess that more parts of Africa which Nigeria has its own fair share will experience hotter and longer sunshine. This will undoubtedly lead to a higher consumption of chilled liquids like water and other drinks (juices, sodas etc).

» *Convenience*
Convenience is another major reason why the ice block business is booming across Nigeria market.
It is true that many people own water coolers/refrigerators and can afford to cool their own drinks. However, it’s not convenient or possible to carry your own cooler everywhere you go. You will likely have to buy drinking water from a vendor who buys ice blocks to cool the drinks she sells to customers like you.
It’s simple logic: the more people like you who buy chilled drinks when they’re out of their homes, the more ice blocks that are sold.
Another convenient reason why people prefer to use ice blocks is that they are faster and more efficient at cooling stuff.
Compared to cooling your drinks in a fridge (too slow) or stuffing them in a freezer (limited by size), ice blocks can provide more flexible cooling in any location; whenever and wherever you want it!
Cool right, don’t you think?

» *The terrible electricity situation*
Our continent which Nigeria as a nation has suffers its own fair share in this, arguably has the worst electric power infrastructure in the world with the lowest scores in power generation, consumption and security of supply! (source: World Bank ).
In many countries on the continent, less than 20 percent of the population is connected to the electric power grid. The situation is worse in rural areas where less than 5 percent enjoy any electricity supply.
Even if we all had our own water coolers and refrigerators at home, how would they work without electricity? How many people can afford generators (of a sufficient capacity) to power water coolers refrigerators and freezers?
Rather than incur these extra costs, most people prefer to buy ice blocks to meet their household cooling needs (especially food preservation).
In the absence of electricity, buying ice blocks is a much cheaper, efficient and flexible option for most people in towns and cities.
The terrible electricity situation remains one of the biggest reasons for the booming ice block business.
While we may curse the government about the power situation in our countries, some smart entrepreneurs in the ice block business are making good money from the problem!💯✔👌🏻
» *Relaxation and social events*
This is where my business belongs thou, Events Planning& Management, its undisputed fact that the rate of Events happenings in Nigeria of today is continually on the increase height, and this inform vendors such as Drinks vendors, Cocktail Drinks at party, Smoothies Vendors, and so on to need the demand for Ice to efficiently deliver their services…
The trend of increased social activities and relaxation in Nigeria of today is growing in towns and cities.
This trend is largely a direct consequence of our continent’s large and overwhelmingly young population, rapid urbanization and economic prosperity.
There is also a rising trend of outdoor events like weddings, religious gatherings, clubs, relaxation spots and other social gatherings.
*What is my point here?* It’s simple. When people gather at these events, they are MORE than likely to consume liquids. Water, soft drinks and alcohol (especially beer) are typically ‘served chilled’ at these events.
Nobody attends a party or hangs out at a bar to drink warm beer!
This is the reason why these events and relaxation spots are huge sources of demand for the ice block business. On most evenings and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) across Africa where in this case Nigeria, millions of people who attend all sorts of events are direct and indirect customers of the ice block business.
As our population continues to increase and more people earn a little extra to spend on relaxation and parties, the demand for ice blocks will undoubtedly explode.

*How to start an ice block production business?*
This is the interesting part; I hope you’re still following!
Now that you have a better understanding of the demand and market for ice block, let’s now look at the things you need to start one for yourself. It’s indeed a small business that requires basic raw materials, many of which are readily available around you.

Here are the five basic things that you need to start this business:
*#1 Water*
Water is the most important raw material in the ice block production business. As you already know, ice blocks are made by freezing ordinary water in a container to a very low temperature (usually below zero degrees Centigrade, 0°C).
You will need to find a good source of fresh and clean water for your production business.
It is probable that the people who buy your ice block will use it to cool food/drinks and may not drink it directly. However, because the ice will come in contact with products that will be eaten or drink, impure or bad water from ice can contaminate or poison the food and drinks.
To avoid this, it is best to stick to the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. The water you use could be pipe-borne from the local government water authority or sourced from clean wells or bore holes. You could also buy your water supplies in areas where water is scarce.

*#2 Packaging*
Ice blocks are often packaged and sold in transparent polythene nylon bags. The bags help to hold the ice both in its solid and melted state.
Because ice can be slippery and difficult to handle, these bags help a lot during transportation and handling of the blocks.
Another good thing about packaging is that it provides you with a great opportunity to put a brand name on your ice block product. This will help to separate your blocks from the ‘faceless’ and ‘unbranded’ competition. It will also help to attract more customers to your business through the contact information on the labels.

*#3 Ice block making machines*
These are the machines that make ice blocks. Don’t worry, they are not some complex equipment you haven’t seen before.
Ice block making machines are more like deep freezers with a higher cooling/freezing capacity. Some of them have rectangular moulds/containers that you pour the water into in order to produce ice blocks. When the water turns into ice, it usually takes the shape of these containers.
There are both foreign and locally-made brands of these machines and depending on your budget, you can choose from a wide variety of models. Some of the things you should keep in mind when buying ice block production machines are:

*Capacity:* This refers to the number of blocks that a machine can produce. Some can produce 20, 50 and over 100 blocks at a time.
Higher capacity machines will likely cost more than small capacity ones. The capacity you choose to buy depends on the number of ice blocks you plan to produce and sell daily.

*Freezing time:* The amount of time taken by the machine to produce ice blocks is also important. Some machines produce ice faster than others and this will often depend on the rating of the compressors.
Don’t forget, the longer a machine spends producing ice, the more you’re likely to spend on electricity and labour. So, it’s often of great benefit to use a machine that forms ice in a short period.

*Compressors:* Compressors are the heart of the cooling system and can affect the quality (hardness) of ice produced and the time taken to produce it. Compressors are usually rated in Horse Power (HP) and are commonly available in 1.5HP, 2HP, 2.5HP and 3HP.
The number of compressors may also matter. For example, a machine with two 1.5HP compressors is likely to produce ice faster than another machine (of equal size) with just one 2HP compressor. You must also pay attention to the quality of your compressors. The fake ones can ruin your business.
After sales support: It’s not just enough to be careful when choosing your machines; it is equally important that you purchase from a manufacturer or seller who can support you when you need to carry out repairs or maintenance. Remember, you may not produce any ice to sell if your machines do not work well. Make sure you buy from a dealer who has technicians (or can recommend one) to repair and maintain your machines.
*4.) Generators*
Due to the unstable electricity supply in many parts of Africa which Nigeria suffers its own share of this menace, it is likely that you may need a power generator to reduce your dependence on the power grid; that is if you experience electricity shortages in your area.
Even when electricity is supplied, the voltage is often unstable and can damage critical parts of your machine (especially the compressors).
To produce the amount of power to effectively drive your machine’s compressors, diesel-powered generators are often preferred over petrol (gasoline) powered ones.
*What capacity should your generator be?*
Well, it depends on the power needs of your ice block making machine. It is best to follow the recommendations of the dealer/manufacturer you buy your machine from. Ensure that you buy a durable generator that doesn’t break down often or require very frequent maintenance or repairs.

*5.) Building/Physical Structure*
This is as well do paramount to staying your ice business… But it can be started as humble as your home that your space in your 2bedroom or Mini flat rented apartment till you massively expand your production to factory size building structure👌🏻
And the more your expansion is, the more your human capital is….
Therefore, either small or big, you can start this Business at any cadre of the level of structure👆🏼
*Some Tips for success in the ice block production business…**
Like every business on earth, there are things you can do to bring luck to your side in the ice block business.
By keeping these tips in mind, you will enjoy a significant advantage over other people in the ice block business who do not understand or follow these tips.
Here they are:
*1.) Target high population density areas*
The ice block business is a volume business; the more blocks you sell, the more money you make!
Ice block business that sell large volumes are usually located in areas that have a high population density and experience a lot of physical, economic and business activities.
Busy roads and streets, areas with high pedestrian traffic (like markets, schools and industrial/residential estates) are good targets for this business.
Many of the people who will become your customers (like petty traders, shop owners and restaurant operators, as well Cocktail Vendors, Drinks Vendors for events and so on…) are usually located in these areas. Your ice block business needs to be close to the action!

*2.) Ice block is a seasonal business*
Although I mentioned that ice blocks is a very lucrative business, it is important that you know it’s also a seasonal business.
During the rainy season, which usually starts around March and peaks in July, there are fewer hours of heat and sunlight. When the weather is cooler, people don’t like to take cold/chilled drinks as often as they would in a hot weather.
As a result of this lower desire to consume cold stuff, the demand and prices of ice blocks usually fall during the rainy/cooler months of the year.
With this information, I strongly advise that you reduce the quantity of ice blocks produced during the rainy/wet season and increase production during the dry/hot seasons.
For those who might want to start this business, it’s better not to start during the wet/rainy season so you don’t get discouraged by the small quantity of sales you are likely to make.

*3.) Target habitual consumers*
Habitual consumers are those people and businesses that require a constant supply of ice block to meet their personal, household or business needs. Some of these habitual consumers include event/party planners, restaurant/hotel operators, petty traders and vendors in busy streets and markets.
These consumers will be interested in any ice block maker or supplier who can meet their daily needs for ice block at a price and convenience that makes sense. With a number of this type of consumers as your customers, you are assured of a steady volume of sales in and out of season.

*4.) Watch out for the competition!*
From a business analysis perspective, ice block production is a low-entry barrier business.
This means that anybody who can afford the machines can fill up containers with water and Voila! she’s in the ice block business! No special skills or knowledge is required!
As a result, your competition can enter this business easily. Should this discourage you? Of course not! To survive, you will need to be smarter than your competition.
Ice blocks are a commodity product; they all basically look the same. Price and convenience (location) are usually the only things that will make more customers patronize your ice block business over other competitors.
To remain competitive with your pricing, you will need to keep your production costs low.
Always keep a close watch on how much you are spending on electricity bills, water and labour. Reduce wastage and unnecessary costs as best as you can.
If you’re just starting out this business, you may not need to employ too many hands. It’s a very simple and straightforward business that you can handle yourself. If you can keep your costs as low as possible, it becomes possible for you to offer better (lower) prices than your competition and still make a profit!

*5.) Take care of your machines*
Your ice block making machine and power generator are the heart of your business. You should always make sure that you stick to the recommended maintenance schedule.
If your machines stop working, the business stalls and you may disappoint your customers who depend on you for their ice block needs. The last thing you want for yourself in this business is a reputation for disappointing/failing your customers.
To avoid any of these undesirable outcomes, keep a technician on hand to take care of any mechanical or electrical faults as they arise.

*Thanks/Good night*
I believe we have come a long session of today seminar!

And so sorry for starting late!
Please pardon me as I make an unreserved apology to you all!
Thank you once again!

Thank you all for having me!
And so sorry for starting late!
Please pardon me as I make an unreserved apology to you all!
Thank you once again!

👉🏻 *Shrimp Farming Business in Nigeria*

❤ *How to get started with this highly lucrative business in Nigeria*

🎤Speaker/Facilitator

🗣Mrs Adetola Oke.

Shrimps are small aquatic animals belonging to the sub- phylum crustaceans, known as shell fish and also our popular periwinkle we buy from the market. They are low in calories and are sources of unsaturated fat ( saturated fats are usually called the bad fat that increases our cholesterol which lead to coronary heart disease while the unsaturated fats are the good fat) They are cheap source of protein for human consumption as well as a source of income. Research has shown that all shell fish has at least 16% crude protein and high crude protein content than egg ( 13.36%) except for the blue crab.
Shell fish is of high demand both locally and internationally.

Shrimp Farming
We all know that shrimps are originally produced from wide capture but this method can not sustain global demand, as a result of decline in shrimps produced through the wild capture. Nigeria is one of the countries with abundance supply of shrimps because of our numerous coastal and mangroves area. Despite this, we still can meet our local demand on shrimp.

Shrimps are grown in brackish water, swimming pools and other containers with significant depth but all these did not yield a great result . For the production of large quantities, an earthen pond is more suitable. Female shrimps lay thousands of millions of eggs, which hatch after a day. The hatched shrimps is called Naupli, are fed algae and brine shrimp naupli known as artemia that’s we used in feeding hatchery fishes. The naupli develop into young shrimps in 12 days and kept in nurseries or can be kept where they hatched to prepare them for transfer into the grow out pond, such transfer usually occurs around the 25th day. The young shrimps stay in the pond for about three to six months after which they are harvested either by draining the pond or by the use of nets.

Farming methods
Traditional / extensive : it is the simplest where the shrimps are farmed with minimum supervision, the farm is situated in coastal or mangrove areas and seed are gotten from the wild, as a result the supply is season dependent. Average stocking is relatively low (3000-5000 fry per hectare) and a yield of 500-700kg /ha/year. This method of farming does not require the use of pump or aeration because water exchange is left to tidal action.
Semi- intensive: It’s just an improved version of the traditional method . Pond construction are generally rectangular shaped of about 1-3 hectares and water depth of 0.8-1.2 meters. Each pond has seperate inlet and outlet gates to facilitate water exchange, pond preparation and harvesting. A diagonal ditch of 5-10m wide and 30-50cm deep extending from inlet to outlet is also constructed to facilitate drainage of water and collection during harvest. The ditch also serves as refuge for the shrimps during sunny days. This method allows for high sticking rate of 20,000-50,000/ ha fries with the use of supplementary feeding . Fertilization of the done must be done with phosphorus to allow natural bloom of phytoplankton , zooplanktonand algae. This operation requires the use of water pump to facilitate water exchange.
Intensive: This is most financially rewarding method as it promises more yield and more return on investment. The main reason for intensive is to hasten the growing cycle, increase yield per hectare. In this system, conditions must be well controlled to achieve a desirable result . Their feed is also augmented with algae, a tank should be gotten to breed algae in other to support well balanced meal. It is possible to produce seed stock all year round and to stock higher densities, as it is possible to stock more shrimp per unit area, the pond used could be small in this set up , aeration is the ‘key’ to keep oxygen supply at a desired level to avoid a situation where the shrimps die from lack of oxygen. High water exchange is also necessary in getting rid of the waste materials from the water. Lastly, there is need for round monitoring. Survival rates and yield are high, understandably , production cost is also high but if done well, the profit is also smily 😁

How to start a fresh water shrimp business
It requires some effort and certain factors has to be put in place before starting.
* choosing the right location; location is important because its affect survival, growth and yield of shrimp to be farmed. The following are the things we should consider ;
Proximity to marine water, soil and topography of the area is important . The soil must have at least 25% clay so to be able to hold water. The soil should be tested to determine its acidity, level of fertility, organic load and physical composition factors play a big role in the quantity and the yield.
Ease of access to shrimp larvae to reduce the cost of transportation and also reduces handling stress the animals will be subjected to.
* Construction of pond and creation of suitable ecosystem
It is important to construct two inter connected ponds to aid convenience in transferring of shrimps. In case of the extensive farm which is located along the coast or mangrove, the tide will provide the necessary water exchange but in the intensive , the water needs to be aerated at all times. Most intensive practices employ the use of pumps/ paddlewheels to keep oxygen level at constant and remove water impurities, thus ensuring better yield. Building a gate system for the exchange of fresh ocean water if your pond is located near the ocean makes a lot of sense and it will save you a lot of maintenance headache. For suitable shrimp ecosystem , the pond should be stocked with algae and phytoplankton. Water must always be tested to ensure it is free from harmful bacteria and chemicals before introducing the shrimps. The PH level of the water must be greater than 6.5 but less than 10( optimal range range is btw 7.5-8.5). The PH meter is always used to check the water and this purchased at aquarium kingdom, Ejigbo or any of the shops in abattoir where they sell animal drugs . The pond must also be free from frogs, small fishes etc which are predators to the shrimps ( predators are animals that hunt on other animals to survive)
It should be noted that newly dug ponds yield poor result in the first year due to lack of build up of algae or insect larvae for the shrimp to feed on but consequently there will be mark of improvement of the gradual buildup of organic matters.

* Feeding and Feeding Regulations
Feeding is very essential to ensure that shrimps get to a desired weight when a specific period of time. It is also a major cost that is incurred in shrimp farming business. At the early satage of growth, shrimps can live on the natural food in the pond, as such fertilization of the pond is very important. As shrimp mature, supplementary feeding is required because their level of comsumption increases and natural food in their pond becomes insufficient. Common supplement include dry pelleted feed, rice bran, household left overs . Supplementary feeding can be administered by the use of automatic machine feeders, feeding trays or broadcasting by hand.

* Harvesting Shrimp
The last stage is an ideal situation , it is carried out in October- just as it begins to get cooler; this stopping the growth period of the shrimp. Matured shrimps can be culled from the pond prior to the main harvesting leaving the smaller ones to be harvested at the same time when they are bigger. The shrimps can be harvested by the use of net or by draining the pond. Harvesting is best done in the cool hour of the day, this is to prevent sun from increasing the temperature and decreasing the volume of oxygen and water levels which can kill the shrimp.
* Oppoutunities In Shrimp Farming
The market of shrimp is a global market and the demand is widened, creating room for people to step in because of our favourable climatic conditions. There is an opportunity for making millions when you follow the right steps to take.
When you take a bold step, the first year might not be smiling but believe in yourself , take note of your mistakes and build on it to make a better cycle.

we must take note that shrimp is a part of aquaculture business that exist in either a marine or fresh water environment

All restaurants purchase shrimp every day for their delicacies

The demand cannot meet the supply,so let us kill that spirit of proscastination and start from somewhere

Note That The road might be rough but with patience, perseverance, trial and error and prayer,we shall get there…

We all have to know that shrimps are small and numerous in number like our catfish fingerlings

For a successful business in shrimp farming, we need to dedicate our time in other to have a smiley harvest

pilferage is one of the major things that is killing farmers

In other to be successful farmers must be ready to be present on ground at all times and also
We should not relent in praying to God for good or sound health

Thanks you so much for your time in reading This Seminar…..

* choosing the right location; location is important because its affect survival, growth and yield of shrimp to be farmed. The following are the things we should consider ;

* Feeding and Feeding Regulations

* Harvesting Shrimp
* Oppoutunities In Shrimp Farming

Good Evening Ladies And Gentlemen

We Are To Discuss Bread Production And Distribution Business In Nigeria

*Bread….

One Of The Most Consumed Food In The World Not Only In Nigeria

It Is A Pasta Product Made From Wheat Flour

Infact I Have Not Exaggerated If I Say It Is The Product That Made Wheat Plantation Very Important In The World

Bread Sales Is One Of The Business That Is Highly Lucrative

But Needs Little Big Cash To Start With

The Main Ingredient In The Production Process Are Mainly Wheat Flour,Sugar And Yeast

So Other Ingredients Depends On The Type Of Bread You Want To Produce

Either Local Bread Or Special Bread

The Local Bread Are The Ones That Are Termed *Agege Bread* In Lagos And Its Environs

So You Will Pour Flour Into A Vat,Sugar,Yeast And Mix Thoroughly To Make A Dough

Using One And Half Bucket Of Clean Water

The Ratio Of The Water To The Flour Should Be Around 5-3

After Mixing You Will Leave It To Ferment For About 4-6 Hours

During The Period The Dough Will Rise
The Reaction Occurring Is That The Yeast Is Feeding On The Sugar Thereby Metabolising

The Process Makes The Dough To Increase In Volume

After The Prescribed Hours/Time

The Dough Will Be Taken To Kneading Machine To Mechanically Press The Dough

This Process Smoothen The Dough And Enhance Evenly Distribution Of The Ingredient

After Which You Get Your Smoothen Dough Cut To Your Desired Weight

Roll Of Smoothly And Put It In A Pan

The Pan Should Have Been Pre Cleaned With Magerine Locally Called Butter

Note That They Are Not Butter Is Quet

Quite Different From Margerine

This Application Of Margerine Enables Easy Removal Of The Loaf After Baking

So After Moulding And Panning Of The Smooth Dough

One Will Then Set It On The Floor To Allow Natural Air To Blow It For Another 5-6 Minutes

During This Time The Bread Will Rise Again To The Brim Of The Pan And Above If Not Covered

Then It Will Be Carefully Put Inside Pre Heated Oven For About 30- 40 Minutes

And Your Bread Is Ready For Sale…..

But If You Are Producing Special Bread Like *Shoprite Bread* And The Likes

You Will Need Some Ingredients Like

*Eggs Of At Least Half Crate
*One Bag Of Flour Margarine
*Flavoured Milk
*Preservatives

And

*Fermenting Powder

If All These Are Present Then You Will Skip The Long Hours Of Fermentation

What You Now Need Is Just 40-50 Minutes Of Fermentation And That Will Be After Panning

That Means You Dont Need The First Fermentation At All

The Number Of Loaves You Will Get In A Bag Now Depends On The Weight You Desired To Produce But At Least Using *Shoprite Or Special Bread* You Will Get At Least 95-100 Loaves In A Bag

And If You Start The Business

You Will Be Producing Nothing Less Than 3 Bags Per Day

That Is The Least Assuming You Are Not Selling At All

The Rate At Which People Demand Bread Is Beyond What We Think If One Work With The Producer

Infact Just A Customer Will Take 100 Loaves On Daily Basis

I Am Saying This Because I Had Both The Production And Selling Experience

People Eat Bread In This Part Of The World So Much

Believe Me Seriously

The Market Is Much More Than Enough For The Producers

All We Need Is To Select The Class Of People You Want To Focus

And Produce Up To The Class

If You Need The Technical Aspect Of This Business You Can Private Chat Mr Asuni

He Will Surely Get You An Expert On This Field Of Endeavour I Am Sure…

So The Sale Comes In A Different Phase
If You Want To Delve Into Local Bread Production

Get A Large Hall Where People Can Be Sleeping Women Will Surely Come And Be Taking It From You

They Will Hawk It In The Morning And Take Another Set In The Evening To Sell At Each Junction Of The Street

All They Need Is Where To Be Sleeping

And If You Can Provide Shelter For Them

Then You Are Guaranteed Of Marketers For Your Bread Production

And If You Go For For Special Bread

It's A Magnet For Super Market And Big Sliced Bread Sellers

One Customer Can Take As Much As 100 Loaves Per Day

This Is A Reality…

Challenges In The Business Are Standby Generator,Kneading Machine And Strictly Maintaining Your Quality Standard …….
